About the Firm

Martin Loichen is the founder and managing partner of Loichen IP S.à r.l. He is registered European Patent Attorney, European Trademark and Design Attorney, Luxembourgish Patent Attorney (Conseil en Propriété Industrielle), and registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).

He holds a Diploma in Physics (Dipl. Phys.) by the Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany. He has also obtained a Diploma in Patent Litigation in Europe issued by the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) and the University of Strasbourg, France.

He is member of the European Patent Institute (EPI), the Federation of Luxembourgish IP Attorneys (FCPIL) and the German Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP).

Martin has been successfully practicing in IP for more than 15 years including more than 8 years in private practice and more than 8 years as in-house patent attorney in two multinational industrial companies.

During that time Martin has successfully supported large industrial clients, in all fields of IP including IP counseling, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, handling oppositions and appeals before the EPO, carrying out IP searches, providing expert opinions, as well as supporting multiple mergers & acquisitions projects.

Having years of experience in working with multinational clients and as an in-house patent attorney, Martin has an advanced understanding of processes and requirements of large industrial companies, which helps significantly to provide services in accordance with the expectations and needs of the industry.

Martin is a native German speaker, is fluent in English and has knowledge of French and Luxembourgish.
